Favorites of the moment

Hi guys! Fernelli here. I haven’t been uploading for a long time. Sorry I have been quite busy lately and so is Rebecca, that’s the sad fact about working life. Anyway enough about us and let’s jump right into my favorites of the moment. I don’t wanna bore you with long essay, I just want to quickly, quickly run through them. Note that my skin type now is Oily combination ( very dry on the cheeks and oily on the T-zone) and very sensitive.

1) Skinfood Lettuce & cucumber toner.

cucumber toner

– Very gentle and mild.

Cons:

– I cannot find any.

6) K-Palette 24 Hr Real Lasting Eyeliner

kpalette

What I like about it:

– It is Super black

– It will not budge at all. I have used this for about 16 hours for an event and it still looks super good.

– The brush applicator makes it easy to apply.

– The tip is very fine, great for beginners who are prone to making mistakes when drawing their liners

– My holy grail liner.

Cons:

– It is a pain to wash off. But I don’t really mind because its AWESOME!!!!!

7) Step one skin equalizer – Radiance Primer in cool pink

skinequalizer

What I like about it:

– It has a tiny opening and it’s a squeeze tube!!! I can control the amount of product to dispense

– Makes my skin look dewy.

– My make up last a lot long with this primer beneath. With Mac blotting powder, my make up is super duper infallible and unmovable! Muahahahhahha!

– Feels very light

– Has a nice smell

– Makes my skin feel super smooth.

– A little goes a very long way.

– Super blendable.

Cons:

– Mad, mad, mad, expensive. I bought it during the VIB sales, still expensive. ( Original price: SGD 68)

8) Caudalie instant detox mask

caudalie

What I like about it:

– This significantly tightens all my pores.

– Cleans up all the gunk that were stuck in my pores.

– Smells nice

– Lightens my blemishes and pigmentation

– Reduces black heads

– Brightens my skin

– This is almost half the price of glam glow, but works just as well in my opinion.

Cons:

– Quite expensive

– Super drying

9) Mac Blot Powder

– mac blot powder

What I like about this:

– It makes my make up last for very long

– Super compact

– Very fine

– Doesn’t cake up my face

– Controls the oil in my face

Cons:

– I use this up very quickly.

10) Bifesta cleansing lotion

bifesta

What I like about it:

– It feels very lightweight.

– Cleans everything, even the most stubborn K-Palette tattoo eyeliner

– It doesn’t sting my eyes

– Doesn’t feel heavy or oily

– very affordable ( about 17 SGD )

Cons:

– Cannot name any

11) Loreal Keratin smooth 1 minute perfecting mask.

loreal

What I like about this:

– It smells like rose

– It makes my hair super smooth and managable

–  Makes my hair very silky

– The treatment only takes one minute

– Makes my hair less frizzy

– Moisturizes my dried rebonded hair.

Con:

– I cannot find any. My hair is never the same again. Highly highly recommend the keratin line ( the pink one) from loreal.

That’s all for my favourite. I did a great haul in May and I am glad most product work out 😀 Have a great weekend and hopefully I can update soon 😀

Feb 2015 Favourites

Hi readers! Its Rebecca here to update this blog.

Without further ado, lets get this started. Here goes my top favourite products in Feb 2015:

1. NAILS INC Autumn Winter Mini Gel Collection

What it is:
A six-piece mini gel effect collection formulated with revolutionary plasticizer technology to create a high shine, super glossy finish—without the UV lamp.

What it does:
Get set with on-trend shades—without stepping into the salon—with these mini gel effect polishes. Give nails a professional salon gel manicure look without the need for a UV lamp, lengthy treatment, or a soak-off. Formulated with revolutionary plasticiser technology that leaves a super glossy finish, this polish uses a triple polymer technology to give a super high shine finish with an amazing plumping gel effect that’s perfect for anyone on the go.

This set contains:
– 6 x 0.15 oz Nail polishes in Porchester Square (muted mushroom), Beaufort Street (raspberry), Little Brick Lane (brick), Old Bond Street (purple), Mayfair Lane (dusky pink), Victoria (deep wine)

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

My thoughts:

This is a present for my 22d birthday from Fernelli. Thanks babe for giving it to me! I really like it. I’ve been using it a lot lately and so far I’m very happy with the result. It is easy to apply and dries up very quickly. The pay-off is very vibrant and smooth. It is also long lasting as it stayed on my nails for more than two weeks and it does not chip easily. Conclusion: love it!

2. Avene Sunscreen

High Protection Mineral Cream SPF 50

What it claims to do:

100% mineral, broad-spectrum sun protection cream for even the most sensitive and intolerant skin. Avène “White” sun care offers 100% mineral, chemical filter-free sunscreen products to provide broad spectrum UVA/ UVB protection without irritation. It is safe for even the most sensitive skin.

My thoughts:

I have mixed feelings about this product. What I like about it is the high protection that it offers. With SPF 50, it protects my skin from the sun very well. Lately the weather has been a killer and there were a few incidents when I went under the sun for hours. However this sunscreen served me well as I didn’t have any sunburns.

What I don’t like about this sunscreen is the thick, white texture. Having a fair shade skin tone, this product made my skin turn fairer after applying. Luckily I applied on my hands or else I would look like a clown with a super fair face. Furthermore, it is greasy and sticky. It is also very long-lasting which can be a double-edged sword. My friend who applied on his face had a white cast which lasted for hours. Even after washing with water, it did not help.

Thus, I would recommend this product unless you are looking for something with high protection and has a lasting effect (And of course, if you don’t mind the white cast on your face).

3. Calla Cleanse Clariancy

What it claims to do:

It is a revolutionary facial-cleansing device with innovative sonic technology.

The benefits are:

  • Remove dead skin cells and rid pores of oil, dirt and leftover makeup
  • Aids blood circulation, improve overall absorption of skincare products
  • Ensure ultra-gentle yet effective cleansing
  • Minimize fine lines and wrinkles

My thoughts:

I really love this product thus I’m leaving the best for the last. In the past, I used to wash my face with my bare hands but I always felt that my face is not completely clean. After using this product, my face feels different. It is thoroughly cleansed and is free from all make-up, dirt and impurities. Another thing that I like about this is that it is very soft and gentle, thus my skin does not feel dry or over-stretched. How I usually use the Cella Cleanser is by first applying facial foam around my face like how I usually do and then place the Cella Cleanser on my cheeks, followed by my T-zone, chin and neck. The cleansing process usually takes around a minute but the result is very pleasant

Alright, I’ve come to an end of my review. I’ll try my best to keep this blog updated soon again.

With love,

Rebecca

New make-up product ( Dec ’14-Jan ’15)

Hi all! Fernelli here! I hope Jan has been amazing for all of you because mine sure is great! Anyway, I also bought a lot of stuff and I have spent so much money that it is not funny. It all started when I was on a hunt for a darker foundation as I have turned darker after my YFP performance. Oh yes, I need to get primer because I was told that you cannnot just put foundation straight on your naked skin without any barrier. Yep, it escalated pretty quickly, it was meant a trip to get just a primer and a foundation. Then I saw many new palettes and products coming out and I went nuts. Hey I bought so much that I went from a white card with less than 100 points to a black card ok?

So here is my haul!

IMG_4753[1]

A sense of how much I got.

I know that don’t look a lot to some people out there who are hoarders. I don’t want to be a hoarder and this is not reasonable amount that one should spent in a short span of 2 months. But since I have gotten so much stuff, might as well do a review and share my thoughts on these product 😀

1) Tarte Amazonian Clay full coverage Airbrush foundation

IMG_4754[1]

This is how the product looks like. I am in the colour Light-medium neutral. That suck man, I never buy any foundation with the word “medium”or “honey” in it. Anyway, I like this foundation but I didn’t like it enough to want to re-purchase this. This foundation is build-able and can be medium-to-high coverage. The finish is BEAUTIFUL if I go for medium coverage which means I put less product on my face. However,  this can look pretty cakey on my skin if I go for full coverage. I need me some full coverage!!!!!!!!! Here is the solution, I put a thin layer of this on top of my CC cream ( which already have some pretty decent coverage) and my laura mercier primer, the effect is absolutely GORGEOUS. It looks like I have a nice healthy skin. So I would think that putting this alone without any concealer or cc cream beforehand is not the best result. If I only have this on top of my skin, I will look like a Make-up loaded mess. And also, I feel that it transfers like mad. So if my face landed on someone’s shirt, that person will have to deal with the foundation mark the whole day and will hate me for it MUAHAHAHHAH~!

2) Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara

IMG_4756[1]

Tadah!

IMG_4788[1]

A huge, silicone wand

I bought this mascara because I ran out of mascara and I didn’t like the K-palette one. This mascara does volumizes the lashes but it didn’t lengthen, so my lash look pretty fat and stumpy. I didn’t expect this to lengthen like mad but at least lengthen a wee bit to keep up with the volume yeah? This thing is pretty sticky too, when I blink my eyes, the top and bottom lashes will stick a little to each other. I like silicone brushes more as it is easier to apply than the fibre wand, however, the wand is HUGE and super difficult to work with. But I do love that this is smudge proof, water proof and very easy to wash off! I didn’t like this but didn’t dislike it either, at least it does its job and I am going to finish using this before I get another one.

3) Too Cool for school – Glam Rock Vampire Kiss in Red Velvet

IMG_4757[1]

IMG_4759[1]

I got this lipstick from my colleague as a Christmas present! That’s so sweet right? 😀 Anyway, this color is the PERFECT vampy , dark-, berry-red lipstick that I have been searching for. Its glides on smoothly on the lips and does last for a long time. This lippie is pretty pigmented as well! However, the downside is that this product can show dry patches if you have chapped lips. I feel that this applies quite unevenly if you have slightly chapped lips. So always apply lip balm before wearing this!

Here is the swatch! 🙂

IMG_4799[1]

4) Skinfood Lettuce & cucumber make up line ( Toner, emulsion and mist)

IMG_4761[1]

I LOVE skinfood because they carry skincare lines which are lightweight, moisturizing, made of mostly natural ingredient and of reasonable price. I honestly think these worked better than my DRX serums which can go up to almost 100 dollar per bottle. I bought these 3 for 100 dollar, pretty good deal right? To make my post less wordy, I will review these 3 together. I find that the all of the product feels refreshing on the skin, lightweight, absorbs fast and is seriously great for moisturizing my skin and calming down the red acne patches. Whenever my skin is very dry, I get this very disturbing red patches from my acne scars. This completely fixed my problem and I have a better skin now. I got the same redness  in September and my parsley moisturizing cream solved the problem. I would recommend skin food skincare for people with problematic skin who are looking for lightweight products which are easy on the pockets.

5) Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush Palette

IMG_4762[1]

I have review about this here. I bought this in December and I am really loving it!~The color breathless no longer shows up on me because I am tanner now. But I use the rest of the colors every single day and I love how healthy my cheeks looked! The blush certainly did not last me for 12 hours but it lasted for a good 8 hours. If you want, here is the swatch again!

IMG_4765[1]

( From left) Breathless, Embraced, Whimsy, Bashful, Irreplaceable

6) Revlon colorstay soft and smooth lipstick in 365 luscious rose

I got this as a Christmas present from my lovely cousin. I once told her that I need to get a nude lipstick because I don’t have any. She took note of this and bought me the Revlon lipstick. This is easily one of my favorite lipstick because the color is very pigmented, it glides on smoothly on the lips and it doesn’t show dry patches. On top of that, the lipstick lasted on my lips too.

IMG_4796[1]

The packaging!

IMG_4763[1]

The bullet

IMG_4797[1]

The Swatch

This  is the perfect “My-lips-but-better” color for me. This is definitely a peachy-brownish lipstick on the bullet and on my hands. But on my lips, the “brown-ness”of the lipstick fades pretty much and this particular color look like a nice peachy nude color on my lips. Don’t be deceived by the bad quality of the photo, it is definitely a peachy warm-brown shade.  I am getting a Camera on my birthday, so hopefully we can have videos and nice photos!

7) Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream

IMG_4764[1]

I have saw many good review about Burt’s Bees cleansers and I decide to get this. Plus I spent too much and I need to use the cheaper cleanser instead. Anyway, I love this stuff it cleanse my face very well without that super tight and dry feeling on my skin after I washed my face. I feel this very refreshing tingling sensation after I cleansed my face and it feel very nice. It cleans all the dirt and leftover make-up remover  thoroughly but still leaves the skin nice and hydrated. This is really a good cleanser and I always feel that my skin is super duper pampered after using this along with my Skinfood Lettuce & Cucumber Skincare line.

8) 1028 Macaron Eyeshadow kit

IMG_4768[1]

I did a review on this . This palette is my go-to palette for work or anywhere that required light make up. I love that the colors are build-able and quite pigmented actually. All of the colors are on the shimmery or satin finish but it makes my eye make-up look so glamorous and korean-ish. I love the packaging as well!!!!!!!!!

9) Laura Mercier Foundation Primer -Oil free IMG_4771[1]

This thing is a whooping 55 dollars a tube.  But a little goes a long way and it makes me look like a GODDESS with a flawless skin. Oh, I am pretty thick-skinned like that HAHAHAHA!!! Jokes aside, it does make my foundation looks great and the formula is very lightweight, get absorbed into the skin pretty quickly and is not greasy. The consistency is feels like a light lotion and apply foundation is much smoother with this primer. And yes, with this primer, I up-ed my game in terms of face Make-up. My foundation no longer smudges and lasts for very, very long time. It doesn’t break me out which is a plus point. One downside though, this things smells like plastic.

10) Sleek Maximum impact eyeshadow singles

IMG_4772[1]

I got this as a complimentary gift while shopping on Luxola. I got the color Khaki and it is just a beautiful olive-green with a hint of neutral brown. I like this stuff! It is so pigmented, so buttery and so…gorgeous! It is more pigmented than the eyeshadow palette of the same brand, sleek. Will talk about that next. Also, I love the little gold sparkles on the eye shadow as well.

IMG_4773[1]

IMG_4774[1]

That swatch above is just a light swipe and the colors look better in person than my lousy iphone 4 camera. I don’t use this everyday but I can use it for special occasion. Like hey! My cousin is getting married pretty soon 😀

11) Sleek I-Divine in Ultra Matte V1 Palette

IMG_4777[1]

Here is the packaging.

I have heard people raving about the package because it is so sleek ( Hahaha It’s sleek palette, C’mon!) and sturdy. I am not a huge fan of simple palette design because I find it too plain. Plus I didn’t like that this packaging attracts finger prints like moths to flames. I prefer the Urban Decay eye-shadow packaging.

IMG_4778[1]

Top row ( from left) : Chill, Pout, Sugarlite, Dragon Fly, Pucker, Bamm! Bottom row ( from left): Cricket, Bolt, Strike, Floss, Crete, Poww!

Here are the swatches!

IMG_4820[1]

From Top: Bamm!, Pucker, Dragon Fly, Sugarlite, Pout, Chill, My rash mark )):

IMG_4821[1]

From Top: Poww! , Floss, Crete, Strike, Bolt , Cricket

This palette is nice on occasions when I want a pop of color. However, I feel there are some colors which are not very pigmented, in fact they kinda sucks. Especially Floss ( Baby pink shade) and Crete( light grey) , I dug and dug and dug for the colors to show up but they didn’t. You see an awkward space on the second swatch photo? That’s floss and crete!

I thought that Sugarlite ( Purple shade) looks so beautiful on the pan but it did not translate as well on my lids, so as Cricket and Dragonfly. The rest are quite pigmented but they are nothing to shout about. The blend-ability is ok, but can be a little chalky. To be honest, they don’t last long on my lids. Overall, I am not very impressed with this palette, but it is a good-to-have because there are times when I need me some colors. I am a neutral-eyeshadow kinda girl so I don’t think I will need something so pigmented too. Might as well get this rather than the UD electric palette which is about $70SGD? And I probably won’t use it if I bought it anyway. I need to give this palette a few more chances really.

12) Zoeva 330 Lip Contour brush

Zoevabrush

330lip-contour

I got this lip-brush because Luxola sells this at a good price and I need a lip-brush. The bristle is soft to feel but is firm enough to take up products. I thought this lip-brush applies lipstick quite sheer on the lips and you need to apply the lipstick a few times to get the color. I guess this is good for people who are not very good at lipstick application like myself because we can slowly build up intensity without messing up. However, the bad thing is, you waste products. However, the cool thing is the design! You can put on the cap if you want to save space,  you can also tug it at the end of the brush so that you have a longer handle to easily apply your lipstick. I don’t love this, nor do I hate it. Just something that I need to use apply my lipstick properly. It does the job but it is nothing to rave about.

13) Too- Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

Chocolatebar

IMG_4830[1]

1st Row (From Left) : Glided Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forrest Truffles, Triple Fudge. 2nd Row ( From Left) Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto. 3rd Row ( From left): Hazelnut, Creme Bruele, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle.

I LOVE THIS PALETTE, the color is so gorgeous, so use-able for work , has great pigmentation and the shadows are so blend-able! The packaging is okay, kinda like the tin pencil-box that I used to have while I was in Lower Primary. But I will think that the packaging is sturdy, so it can “protect”the eye-shadows should it drops. The inside is really pretty as you can see and I love that it has a big mirror. It is me or I just ADORE the “Chocolate Bar” Print. And the best thing about this palette is that, IT SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE!! How awesome is that. I can just apply this every morning and the smell of the shadows naturally lifts up my mood. The concept of this is great but wait till you see the swatches. The color is intensely pigmented, buttery, soft and highly blend-able. Let the swatches do the talking ok? 🙂 The only color that didn’t show up was White Chocolate because it is exactly my skin color. But I thought it is quite buttery and smooth.

IMG_4822[1]

1ST ROW : From Bottom: Glided Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forrest Truffles, Triple Fudge.

IMG_4828[1]

2ND ROW: From Bottom: Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto.

IMG_4829[1]

3RD ROW : From Bottom: Hazelnut, Creme Bruele, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle.

As you can see the colors are really seriously pigmented. I wish the camera can do more justice to these eye-shadows because it is a really gorgeous palette. I thought the color selection is very versatile and you can wear this in any occasions. The downside is, however, is that the palette is not cheap, it is $69 SGD.

I know that’s a lot of things I bought and some people may give me crap for this. I know, I need to watch what I spend as well. But instead of feel sinful and dwell about spending so much ( which is irreversible for me anyway)  , why not share it with everyone who might read this?

Anyway, That’s all I have and I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend.

Love,

Fernelli

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the long hiatus! I’ve been so busy with school but now it’s the holidays for now. Before it’s too late, I want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015! It’s a brand new year so I wish everyone an abundance of joy for the year ahead and may all your wishes come true.

Today, I’m going to give my reviews on some Kiehl’s products. Yes, I’m a major Kiehl’s fan in case you are wondering. The products that I will be sharing with you guys today are from the Ultra Facial Oil-free series. I did not purchase them however I tried out the samples for about two weeks now so I think it is fair enough to give a review on them.

Just to let you guys know; I don’t have oily skin. I have a combination of normal and slightly dry skin which means my face hardly produce any oil glands in the day. So I only used these products in the day. Here goes my review on them:

1. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser

What it claims to do:

  • Thoroughly removes impurities and visibly reduces excess oil on skin’s surface, while leaving skin looking more balanced
  • Leaves skin clean and refreshed without over–drying
  • Contains Imperata Cylindrica Root and Lemon Fruit Extracts
  • Oil–free, paraben–free, fragrance–free, colorant–free
  • Gentle enough for sensitive skin

The first product that I will be talking about is the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser. The first time I used it, I did not like the after effect. The texture of the cleanser was alright as it lathers up well. However after I cleanse my face, I felt that the product was pulling skin making it feel tight and dry. I gave it a second chance and nope I still did not like it. My verdict: it is not suitable for my skin and I would not recommend this to people with dry skin.

2. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner

What it claims to do:

  • Gently removes residue, dirt and oil without stripping skin of vital moisture
  • Made with Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract and Antarcticine to soothe and hydrate skin
  • Non–drying, alcohol–free formula
  • PH–balanced, and tested for safety and gentleness
  • Oil–free, paraben–free, fragrance–free, colorant–free

Unlike the cleanser, my experience with the toner was quite good. Like most toners, it does what it is supposed to do. It helped to hydrate, soothe and balance my skin. My skin felt rehydrated after using it and it also helped to balance out my uneven skin tone. My skin also looked more radiant after using it thus I like this product to a great extent.

3. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel-Cream

What it claims to do:

  • Visibly reduce excess oil on skin’s surface
  • Re-balances skin barrier for a smoother, fresher appearance
  • Contains Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Antarcticine, and Cucumber Fruit Extract
  • Oil–free, paraben–free, fragrance–free, colorant–free

I like the texture of the product on my skin. Unlike most moisturizers, it is much lighter as it is in a gel form. It also spreads on your skin easily and did not leave any sticky feeling. It also did not cause any negative reaction on my skin. However, be mindful that this product contains alcohol. Luckily for me, it did not cause any break outs. I read up on the product online and it says there is a low content of alcohol in it. But if you have sensitive skin, I would not recommend it. It is always best to go for an alcohol-free facial product to minimize the harm.

In conclusion, I feel that these products are suitable for people with oily skin. If you are like me and do not have oily skin, I would not recommend you to try them especially if you have very dry skin.

I have come to and end of my reviews and I hope you find them useful.

Till next time, take care everyone!

1028 Macaron Eyeshadow Kit

Hello everyone! I will be blogging more often because I bought a lot of Make-Up items ( which some I really don’t need ooops). I got an additional Christmas pressie for myself and I got…..

IMG_4349[1]

1028 Macaron Eyeshadow Kit ( SGD 28.90)

1028 is actually a brand by Taiwanese celebrity artist, Xiao Kai. I saw this palette when I was in Taiwan and I fell in love with it. The colors just screamed my name and when I swatched all the colors, the colors showed up so beautifully and applies like a butter. However, I thought to myself, ” Hell I don’t need another palette” and let this pass. I should have bought it then because it is much cheaper in Taiwan than it is in Singapore. That was in May 2014. Fast forward to Dec 2014, I went to Watsons recently and fell back in love with the palette. I know that the colors will be something I reach for everyday. I would think that I love this more than my Kat Von D palette ( which I still love).

As you can see, the packaging is so cute. The colors are cuter, anything that is pink-tones, yummy-candylicious colored and sparkly is my thing.

Enough of small talks, Let’s see how the palette looks like from the inside, shall we?

IMG_4355[1]

I thought the mirror is cute but it is too small to serve a purpose, that’s how I feel. But let’s focus on the more important thing, the shadow! The colors are either satin or frosty finish. These colors are also pretty neutral. The top rows are more of a warm neutral tone, while the colors at the bottom are of the rosey-pink neutral tone. I hope you know what I am trying to get lol, but anyway, I feel that this is a very wearable eye-shadow for everyday use. I used this for 3 days straight so yeah. The reason why I love this was actually because of the bottom colors, but I would think that the top row colors are more pigmented.

IMG_4361[1]

Close up of the colors!

The pigmentation is buildable and definitely not in your face opaque like the Sugarpill palettes. The color stayed pretty true to their palettes which is a plus point because some of the eyeshadows i owned are not very pigmented and hence does not look like the color on the pan. What annoys me more is that , These sparkly colors look like a wash of shimmery sliver after you swipe the shadows on your lid. I don’t have that kind of problem in this palette so yay! And also, it lasts without a primer, I have tried wearing this with no primer for the whole day and it is still beautiful.

Of course, a review is never complete without swatches!

IMG_4356[1]

So in conclusion, I love this palette. I love all the colors, I love the pigmentation, the texture and the finish. This is something that I will wear to work since it is quite subtle and I don’t want to put on a Kim Kardashian Make-Up look everyday to scare my bosses and the little interns ( they are only 2-4 years younger than me, BUT I WANNA CALL EM LIL)!

Pros :

-It last without a primer

– Buildable coverage

-Pretty Colors

– Smooth

-Blends beautifully

-Work/school friendly

– Resonable price

Cons:

– For people who love serious pigmentation in eyeshadows, this is not for you.

-The hightlight colors can look chunky on the lids and there is quite a bit of fallouts

– All shimmery colors, no matte color to balance out the eye Make-up. But I like the shimmery eyeshadow look!

I will give this a 9/10, the 1 point for the fact that it doesn’t have matte colors and that the highlight shades fall out quite a bit.

That’s it! Hope you have a happy Monday and I will update soon!

Love,

Fernelli

I am so happy with these products!

Hello! Haven’t been updating for so longggg! I have been really busy because my workplace is really far from my home and usually I am too lazy to update after work. I have many fun activities for me in the weekends soooo… Sorry!!!!!!!!

Since I am working, it means that I got money. And when I am single, free, no much commitment and have some money in my bank, I spent it in SEPHORA!!!!!!!!! For people who are judging, judge away! I don’t care as long as I set aside some for family expenses and leave some savings.

Here are the buys that make me very happy!

1) Melted Liquified long wear lipstick in Violet (30SGD)

This lipstick is very moisturizing and it feels light on my lips. The color is so bold, pigmented and very purple! It is pure purple and not mixed with like pink, or nude or blah. It is simply just a gorgeous, 100% magenta color. Don’t believe me? Here is a photo to prove.

Tadahhh! I love this lipstick because of the color and the fact that it is very comfortable. But it is not very long lasting and because of it’s light and runny texture.

2) NYX matte lipstick in perfect red (12.50 SGD)

I love this more than the melted lipstick that I have just mentioned. It also half the price of the melted lipstick too! Though a tad bit drying, but this thing LAST very long on my lips even after I eat! The color is a very bright, cool tone red. It compliments my skin tone because I am a cool skin-tone person. I got like many compliments in my office wearing it. But be careful though, cool tone red may suit me but it might not suit you! Find the tone of your skin and find the right red-lips for you! Here is a picture of me in the lipstick.

Let the picture do the talking! I..can’t! It is just too gorgeous! I love the feel ,texture , pigmentation and longevity of the lipstick and I am so getting other shades of the same line.

3) Tarte Pin-Up Girl blush set ( 59SGD)

From left: breathless, embraced, whimsy, bashful, irreplaceable

I saw this beauty while I was shopping a gift for a friend. I end up spending like a 100 dollars plus okay! I have yet to test out all the colors, so far I only tried breathless and it is not that long lasting. When I swatch the colors, breathless is less pigmented and smooth than the other color. It is still beautiful nonetheless. I have swatch the rest and they are so smooth, so buttery, and so pigmented!! Here is a swatch, I won’t dare to say the color description of the blush because I believe the color looks different on different people. And I admit, the pictures taken from my phone is not of good quality too. Hur hur!

*Ahem* so here is the swatch!

From top: irreplaceable, bashful, whimsy, embraced, breathless,

That’s it people, I look forward to doing a full review of these products that I have mentioned and I hope to see yall soon!

Love,

July 2014 Hauls

Hello readers!

Fernelli has been busy with work lately. But not to worry, I’m still around to keep this blog updated!

Let me share with you my July hauls. Enjoy reading!

Sally Hansen Strengthening Nail Polish Remover

sally hansen

What it claims to do:

Quickly and gently removes nail polish. A blend of essential nutrients Pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin E & Wheat Protein helps to promote strong, healthy-looking nails and cuticles. Improves soft, weak, thin nails.

How I feel:

I feel that this nail polish remover is really good! It is able to remove tough nail polish. As you girls know that glittery nail polish is hard to remove, I have never encountered any problem with this nail polish remover. It always does the trick without hurting or damaging my nails. So I will definitely buy this again!

Garnier 2 in 1 Make-up Remover

Garnier-Simply-Essentails-2-In-1-make-Up-Remover-review

What it claims to do:

Enriched with plant extract and pro-vitamin B5 its 2 in 1 formula with no perfume and no alcohol, combines the efficacy of a make-up removing oil (blue liquid) with the freshness of a cleansing water (clear liquid) in just one step. Leaving no residue, your skin feels soft and comfortable, with no rubbing!

How I feel:

I feel that this make-up remover has its pros and cons. It is able to remove my make-up thoroughly. Moreover, having a sensitive skin type, my skin did not break out after using this. So I would recommend this to people with sensitive skin. However, my face feels oily after using it. And the oily feeling would not go away until I wash my face with cleanser. Being a clean freak, I feel that by using water alone to wash off the make up remover is not enough. Thus I feel that this product is not suitable for people with oily skin.

THEFACESHOP Design My Eyebrow

Lovely-Me-EX-Design-My-Eyebrown-3

How I feel:

I’m saving the best for the last. Why?

Because this is the best eyebrow pencil that I have ever used so far!

As seen in the picture, it comes in 5 shades. I’m using the number 1 grey brown because it is the closest to my hair colour – black.

What I like about this eyebrow pencil is that it is very smooth and it glides smoothly across my eyebrow. I would go over or fill in those areas that needs more colour and this product gives off the natural look which I adore! Moreover, it has a sharp edge which is good for drawing the ends of your eyebrow. This eyebrow pencil also comes with a bristle so you can comb through your brows making it look more natural.

Plus point: you do not have to sharpen it! Personally, I prefer eyebrow pencils that doesn’t require sharpening. I have tried several automatic eyebrow pencils in the past but none of them gives a natural look as this one. So if you’re like me, give this a try!

So with that, I have come to an end of my July hauls. Have a great day ahead everyone!

Lots of love,

Rebecca

Tips for a Clearer Complexion

It is every girl’s dream to get a perfect complexion. One that is bright, radiant and free from blemishes or any skin problems. When I see celebrities on magazines/ billboards with good skin, I start to wonder; how did they do it? Is it because of the foundation that they used? Or is it their natural skin? Is it the food that they eat? Or is it the skin care products that they use?

For me, I would like to start on the natural ways of getting better complexion and here is what I came up with:

(Disclaimer: I am not a professional so I may be wrong. I am just sharing with you what I did.)

#1 Eat Clean

steam food

By eating clean I don’t mean going on a diet. I mean avoiding oily, deep fried, sweet, salty, savory or any unhealthy food. I know this is a big commitment and being a big fan of sweet food such as chocolate and cakes, I admit that I had quite a struggle initially.

So what did I eat? I tried my best to eat at home. When you or your mum cooks, you know what goes into the food. So you can adjust the amount of oil or salt or sugar that goes in.

My favorite style of cooking is to steam food. Steamed food is always healthier because little or no oil in involved. There are many food that you can steam with such as chicken, fish, eggs and vegetables. On top of that, it is hassle free. (Confession: I’m not a great cook and I’m very lazy.) All you have to do is to marinate the food, place it into a pot filled with water and wait. So steamed food is the way to go! (Tip: You can choose to use a bigger pot and steam two dishes at one go. And there you go; your meal is settled!)

#2 Have a Balance Diet

fruits vegetables

Like they always say, you are what you eat!

I would recommend eating leafy greens and a variety of fruits. Eat foods that are rich in vitamin C because they are great antioxidants. Some examples are strawberries, orange, blueberries and broccoli.

Also, eat foods that are rich in vitamin E as it protects our skin from damage and enhances growth. Examples include almonds, avocado, sunflower seeds.

#3 Do your skin routine

cleanse face

I know sometimes when we get home late at night; all we want to do is to sleep. If you are too tired or lazy to do every skincare steps, at least remove your make up. I believe that putting on make-up for long hours will clog pores and we definitely don’t want that.

So removing your make up is the first step. The second step is to cleanse your face with a facial cleanser. Depending on your skin type, invest on a good facial cleanser. The third step is to use a toner followed by a serum or moisturiser or cream.

Tip: wash your face regularly regardless of what skin type you are! This will remove all the dirt and unwanted particles, making us look fresh and clean.

#4 Apply sun block

sunblock

It is important that we apply sunblock before leaving the house every morning. Singapore’s weather is hot all year round so I would recommend using a sun block with at least SPF 50. This way, it will protect your skin against harmful rays. Not only can it prevent us from getting sunburnt, it helps to prevent ageing as well thus reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

#5 Exercise

exercise

Did you know that apart from health benefits, exercise can improve our skin as well?

Exercising improves blood flow to our skin, thus enhancing our complexion. Also exercise makes us sweat and sweat purges your body of toxins that can clog pores. Just remember to shower and wash your face after a workout.

#6 Drink Plenty of Water

drink water

With the humid weather in Singapore, we must always keep ourselves hydrated. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

The lack of hydration can cause our skin to be dry and flaky. Furthermore, it can get rid the toxins in our body and skin. I suggest that we bring a small bottle of water in our bag when we go out. This way we can drink it whenever necessary!

#7 Have Adequate Sleep

sleepNeedless to say, sleep is essential to achieve the perfect complexion that we want. It is recommended to have 7 hours of sleep daily. When we sleep, our skin regenerates itself. On the other hand, inadequate sleep can cause breakouts or other skin problems. So go have a good night’s rest today!

#8 Cut down on Unhealthy Habits

no smoking

Unhealthy habits refer to smoking, drinking etc. Not only are they harmful to our health (e.g. lung cancer, kidney failure), they make us look ugly too. The nicotine in cigarettes stains our teeth. Also it can cause premature aging and wrinkles, making us look older than we actually are. Drinking deprives the skin of vitamins and nutrients. Furthermore, it can cause us to dehydrate leaving us with dry skin and wrinkles.

And so I have come to the end of this post. Last but not least, smile! When you feel good, you look good!

Till next time, stay beautiful!

Signing off, Rebecca.

June 2014 Hauls

Hi everyone!

It’s Rebecca here. It’s time for our monthly favourites so here goes my June favourites:

1. Khiel’s Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser

CentellaCleanser

What it claims to do:
This gentle, soap-free facial cleanser has been specifically formulated to address the particular skincare needs of sensitive skin. With centella asiatica, aloe vera and chamomile extract, our PH-balanced formula cleanses skin and effectively removes makeup residue and impurities while helping to avoid the irritation common to sensitive skin.

My thoughts:
Recently I have been into Khiel’s products. I like their products a lot because it is safe to use for sensitive skin people. As you all know, I have sensitive skin, so for years I have been looking for the right cleanser that suits my skin well. For most facial cleansers, my skin feels tight after using it and I dislike that feeling. When I was younger, I used to think that that feeling is normal because the cleanser is removing all the unwanted dirt. However after some time, I could not take it anymore and I can feel my skin getting drier after each usage.

However, with Khiel’s Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser, I don’t have to face the problem. This product is very gentle on the skin so I would recommend this to sensitive and non-sensitive skin people. Why should we torture our skin right? We should pamper them after a hard day’s work. My skin always feels so soft and moisturized after using it. Moreover, I feel that it cleans my face thoroughly, removing all my make-up and dirt. On top of that, we can choose to use with or without water. Definitely a plus point for me!

2. Khiel’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner

calendula toner

What it claims to do:
This effective toner is formulated with select herbal extracts to gently cleanse and soothe normal to dry skin types without the use of alcohol or harsh synthetic drying agents. Our Calendula herbal-extract toner may be used to soothe and improve problem areas.

My thoughts:
After using the cleanser, the next step is to apply toner. Currently, my favourite toner is Khiel’s toner. Not only is it alcohol free, it uses flowers and pure extracts. I usually put a few drops on a cotton pad and apply it all over my face. My skin feels revitalize after applying it. I can feel my skin absorbing all the moisture and the feeling is very refreshing and hydrating. To me, it is like applying cucumbers all over the face except that this is much simpler and quicker.

3. L’oreal Youth Code Rejuvenating Eye Essence

lorealyouthcoderejuvenatingeyeessence

Last month, after hearing good reviews about the L’oreal Youth Code Pre-Essence, I decided to purchase the eye essence. I chose to start with the eye essence because of two reasons: (i) I realize the areas around my eye are getting quite bad. I’m getting slightly noticeable fine lines and the dark circles around my eye are getting from bad to worse. (I know in my previous blog post I talked on how to get to get rid of dark circles, but I felt that I needed a faster solution as my dark circles are pretty bad.) (ii) I feel that my face is alright for now and it is my eye area that needs more attention.

What it claims to do:

  • Smooth fine lines
  • Lighten dark circles
  • Reduce eyelid puffiness
  • Firm eye contour
  • Hydrate eye contour

My thoughts:

I have been using it daily for about a month now and I like it! I can see the areas around my eye getting improvement. My dark circles are reduced as well so I’m happy with the results. After applying them, I feel my eye area getting moisturized. As I usually apply them before going to bed, I would wake up to soft and smooth skin.

In addition, it is very easy to use. You just have to pump one drop and it is sufficient for both eyes. On top of it, the serum gets absorbed into your skin very quickly so for people who use it in the day, you can apply your eye make-up after applying the serum. The best part is that it is very affordable so you have to burn a hole in your pocket to purchase it. Also, it is available at all beauty stores.

So here goes my June favourites. Have a great day ahead and stay beautiful!

Lots of love,

Rebecca

Beauty tricks with Vaseline

Hello readers!

Sorry for the long hiatus. Both Fernelli and I have been so busy with work lately but we promise that we will try our best to keep this blog updated as much as possible. Without further ado, here is my post for today.

vaseline

So lately, I have been into Vaseline. By now all of you should know about the existence of Vaseline. It has been around for hundreds of years and it can be found at almost all drugstores and convenient stores. On top of it, it is very affordable. In Singapore, it can be as cheap as $2 per bottle.

But do you know that it has many uses? There are many ways that we can use with this small bottle of magic. So today I will be sharing with you guys my beauty tricks with Vaseline.

  1. It can be used to heal chapped, dry lips. (There was once when I had really dry and bad looking lips but Vaseline saved my lips. Problem solved!)
  2. Apply it to your cuticles to get softer, moisturised and healthy looking cuticles.
  3. Apply some on your elbows before sleeping and wake up to smooth skin. Alternatively, you can do this as often as you want in the day.
  4. Apply to eyelashes to get fuller, thicker and longer looking eyelashes. It is best to do this overnight while asleep.
  5. Apply to your pulse points before spraying perfume to make your perfume last longer.
  6. Use it to tame your unruly brows.
  7. Use it as a hair dye protector. Apply some Vaseline along your hairline to prevent the dye from staining your skin.
  8. Apply on your cheekbones for a radiant shine.
  9. Use it as a lip balm. It gives a natural shine to your lips and it is safer as compared to most lip balms which contain toxic.
  10. Apply to your teeth to prevent your lipstick from staining them.
  11. Use it as a make-up remover.

I know that there are many more ways to use it but here are my personal favourites. If you have more ways to use it, do share them with us. We would love to hear your comments.

Till next time, take care everyone!

Rebecca 🙂
