Hi all! Fernelli here! I hope Jan has been amazing for all of you because mine sure is great! Anyway, I also bought a lot of stuff and I have spent so much money that it is not funny. It all started when I was on a hunt for a darker foundation as I have turned darker after my YFP performance. Oh yes, I need to get primer because I was told that you cannnot just put foundation straight on your naked skin without any barrier. Yep, it escalated pretty quickly, it was meant a trip to get just a primer and a foundation. Then I saw many new palettes and products coming out and I went nuts. Hey I bought so much that I went from a white card with less than 100 points to a black card ok?
So here is my haul!
A sense of how much I got.
I know that don’t look a lot to some people out there who are hoarders. I don’t want to be a hoarder and this is not reasonable amount that one should spent in a short span of 2 months. But since I have gotten so much stuff, might as well do a review and share my thoughts on these product 😀
1) Tarte Amazonian Clay full coverage Airbrush foundation
This is how the product looks like. I am in the colour Light-medium neutral. That suck man, I never buy any foundation with the word “medium”or “honey” in it. Anyway, I like this foundation but I didn’t like it enough to want to re-purchase this. This foundation is build-able and can be medium-to-high coverage. The finish is BEAUTIFUL if I go for medium coverage which means I put less product on my face. However, this can look pretty cakey on my skin if I go for full coverage. I need me some full coverage!!!!!!!!! Here is the solution, I put a thin layer of this on top of my CC cream ( which already have some pretty decent coverage) and my laura mercier primer, the effect is absolutely GORGEOUS. It looks like I have a nice healthy skin. So I would think that putting this alone without any concealer or cc cream beforehand is not the best result. If I only have this on top of my skin, I will look like a Make-up loaded mess. And also, I feel that it transfers like mad. So if my face landed on someone’s shirt, that person will have to deal with the foundation mark the whole day and will hate me for it MUAHAHAHHAH~!
2) Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara
Tadah!
A huge, silicone wand
I bought this mascara because I ran out of mascara and I didn’t like the K-palette one. This mascara does volumizes the lashes but it didn’t lengthen, so my lash look pretty fat and stumpy. I didn’t expect this to lengthen like mad but at least lengthen a wee bit to keep up with the volume yeah? This thing is pretty sticky too, when I blink my eyes, the top and bottom lashes will stick a little to each other. I like silicone brushes more as it is easier to apply than the fibre wand, however, the wand is HUGE and super difficult to work with. But I do love that this is smudge proof, water proof and very easy to wash off! I didn’t like this but didn’t dislike it either, at least it does its job and I am going to finish using this before I get another one.
3) Too Cool for school – Glam Rock Vampire Kiss in Red Velvet
I got this lipstick from my colleague as a Christmas present! That’s so sweet right? 😀 Anyway, this color is the PERFECT vampy , dark-, berry-red lipstick that I have been searching for. Its glides on smoothly on the lips and does last for a long time. This lippie is pretty pigmented as well! However, the downside is that this product can show dry patches if you have chapped lips. I feel that this applies quite unevenly if you have slightly chapped lips. So always apply lip balm before wearing this!
Here is the swatch! 🙂
4) Skinfood Lettuce & cucumber make up line ( Toner, emulsion and mist)
I LOVE skinfood because they carry skincare lines which are lightweight, moisturizing, made of mostly natural ingredient and of reasonable price. I honestly think these worked better than my DRX serums which can go up to almost 100 dollar per bottle. I bought these 3 for 100 dollar, pretty good deal right? To make my post less wordy, I will review these 3 together. I find that the all of the product feels refreshing on the skin, lightweight, absorbs fast and is seriously great for moisturizing my skin and calming down the red acne patches. Whenever my skin is very dry, I get this very disturbing red patches from my acne scars. This completely fixed my problem and I have a better skin now. I got the same redness in September and my parsley moisturizing cream solved the problem. I would recommend skin food skincare for people with problematic skin who are looking for lightweight products which are easy on the pockets.
5) Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush Palette
I have review about this here. I bought this in December and I am really loving it!~The color breathless no longer shows up on me because I am tanner now. But I use the rest of the colors every single day and I love how healthy my cheeks looked! The blush certainly did not last me for 12 hours but it lasted for a good 8 hours. If you want, here is the swatch again!
( From left) Breathless, Embraced, Whimsy, Bashful, Irreplaceable
6) Revlon colorstay soft and smooth lipstick in 365 luscious rose
I got this as a Christmas present from my lovely cousin. I once told her that I need to get a nude lipstick because I don’t have any. She took note of this and bought me the Revlon lipstick. This is easily one of my favorite lipstick because the color is very pigmented, it glides on smoothly on the lips and it doesn’t show dry patches. On top of that, the lipstick lasted on my lips too.
The packaging!
The bullet
The Swatch
This is the perfect “My-lips-but-better” color for me. This is definitely a peachy-brownish lipstick on the bullet and on my hands. But on my lips, the “brown-ness”of the lipstick fades pretty much and this particular color look like a nice peachy nude color on my lips. Don’t be deceived by the bad quality of the photo, it is definitely a peachy warm-brown shade. I am getting a Camera on my birthday, so hopefully we can have videos and nice photos!
7) Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream
I have saw many good review about Burt’s Bees cleansers and I decide to get this. Plus I spent too much and I need to use the cheaper cleanser instead. Anyway, I love this stuff it cleanse my face very well without that super tight and dry feeling on my skin after I washed my face. I feel this very refreshing tingling sensation after I cleansed my face and it feel very nice. It cleans all the dirt and leftover make-up remover thoroughly but still leaves the skin nice and hydrated. This is really a good cleanser and I always feel that my skin is super duper pampered after using this along with my Skinfood Lettuce & Cucumber Skincare line.
8) 1028 Macaron Eyeshadow kit
I did a review on this . This palette is my go-to palette for work or anywhere that required light make up. I love that the colors are build-able and quite pigmented actually. All of the colors are on the shimmery or satin finish but it makes my eye make-up look so glamorous and korean-ish. I love the packaging as well!!!!!!!!!
9) Laura Mercier Foundation Primer -Oil free
This thing is a whooping 55 dollars a tube. But a little goes a long way and it makes me look like a GODDESS with a flawless skin. Oh, I am pretty thick-skinned like that HAHAHAHA!!! Jokes aside, it does make my foundation looks great and the formula is very lightweight, get absorbed into the skin pretty quickly and is not greasy. The consistency is feels like a light lotion and apply foundation is much smoother with this primer. And yes, with this primer, I up-ed my game in terms of face Make-up. My foundation no longer smudges and lasts for very, very long time. It doesn’t break me out which is a plus point. One downside though, this things smells like plastic.
10) Sleek Maximum impact eyeshadow singles
I got this as a complimentary gift while shopping on Luxola. I got the color Khaki and it is just a beautiful olive-green with a hint of neutral brown. I like this stuff! It is so pigmented, so buttery and so…gorgeous! It is more pigmented than the eyeshadow palette of the same brand, sleek. Will talk about that next. Also, I love the little gold sparkles on the eye shadow as well.
That swatch above is just a light swipe and the colors look better in person than my lousy iphone 4 camera. I don’t use this everyday but I can use it for special occasion. Like hey! My cousin is getting married pretty soon 😀
11) Sleek I-Divine in Ultra Matte V1 Palette
Here is the packaging.
I have heard people raving about the package because it is so sleek ( Hahaha It’s sleek palette, C’mon!) and sturdy. I am not a huge fan of simple palette design because I find it too plain. Plus I didn’t like that this packaging attracts finger prints like moths to flames. I prefer the Urban Decay eye-shadow packaging.
Top row ( from left) : Chill, Pout, Sugarlite, Dragon Fly, Pucker, Bamm! Bottom row ( from left): Cricket, Bolt, Strike, Floss, Crete, Poww!
Here are the swatches!
From Top: Bamm!, Pucker, Dragon Fly, Sugarlite, Pout, Chill, My rash mark )):
From Top: Poww! , Floss, Crete, Strike, Bolt , Cricket
This palette is nice on occasions when I want a pop of color. However, I feel there are some colors which are not very pigmented, in fact they kinda sucks. Especially Floss ( Baby pink shade) and Crete( light grey) , I dug and dug and dug for the colors to show up but they didn’t. You see an awkward space on the second swatch photo? That’s floss and crete!
I thought that Sugarlite ( Purple shade) looks so beautiful on the pan but it did not translate as well on my lids, so as Cricket and Dragonfly. The rest are quite pigmented but they are nothing to shout about. The blend-ability is ok, but can be a little chalky. To be honest, they don’t last long on my lids. Overall, I am not very impressed with this palette, but it is a good-to-have because there are times when I need me some colors. I am a neutral-eyeshadow kinda girl so I don’t think I will need something so pigmented too. Might as well get this rather than the UD electric palette which is about $70SGD? And I probably won’t use it if I bought it anyway. I need to give this palette a few more chances really.
12) Zoeva 330 Lip Contour brush
I got this lip-brush because Luxola sells this at a good price and I need a lip-brush. The bristle is soft to feel but is firm enough to take up products. I thought this lip-brush applies lipstick quite sheer on the lips and you need to apply the lipstick a few times to get the color. I guess this is good for people who are not very good at lipstick application like myself because we can slowly build up intensity without messing up. However, the bad thing is, you waste products. However, the cool thing is the design! You can put on the cap if you want to save space, you can also tug it at the end of the brush so that you have a longer handle to easily apply your lipstick. I don’t love this, nor do I hate it. Just something that I need to use apply my lipstick properly. It does the job but it is nothing to rave about.
13) Too- Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
1st Row (From Left) : Glided Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forrest Truffles, Triple Fudge. 2nd Row ( From Left) Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto. 3rd Row ( From left): Hazelnut, Creme Bruele, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle.
I LOVE THIS PALETTE, the color is so gorgeous, so use-able for work , has great pigmentation and the shadows are so blend-able! The packaging is okay, kinda like the tin pencil-box that I used to have while I was in Lower Primary. But I will think that the packaging is sturdy, so it can “protect”the eye-shadows should it drops. The inside is really pretty as you can see and I love that it has a big mirror. It is me or I just ADORE the “Chocolate Bar” Print. And the best thing about this palette is that, IT SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE!! How awesome is that. I can just apply this every morning and the smell of the shadows naturally lifts up my mood. The concept of this is great but wait till you see the swatches. The color is intensely pigmented, buttery, soft and highly blend-able. Let the swatches do the talking ok? 🙂 The only color that didn’t show up was White Chocolate because it is exactly my skin color. But I thought it is quite buttery and smooth.
1ST ROW : From Bottom: Glided Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forrest Truffles, Triple Fudge.
2ND ROW: From Bottom: Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto.
3RD ROW : From Bottom: Hazelnut, Creme Bruele, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle.
As you can see the colors are really seriously pigmented. I wish the camera can do more justice to these eye-shadows because it is a really gorgeous palette. I thought the color selection is very versatile and you can wear this in any occasions. The downside is, however, is that the palette is not cheap, it is $69 SGD.
I know that’s a lot of things I bought and some people may give me crap for this. I know, I need to watch what I spend as well. But instead of feel sinful and dwell about spending so much ( which is irreversible for me anyway) , why not share it with everyone who might read this?
Anyway, That’s all I have and I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend.
Love,
Fernelli
