Project Pan!

Hello Ladies and Gents!

Fernelli here! I said I want to do a video but I cannot, my camera has died on me. And I will be talking about some product but I am not swatching. If I do that, this is going to take me a long ass time. And my main point is about products that I want to hit pan on, I will do a quick review but I am not doing a full on review.  And also, I may say that a certain product is good 3 years ago, but I may have different view now.  I will be much more critical on how these product performs. I have enough make-up to know what is actually good and understand the expectations of Make up consumers in general. Last time for me, if it has pigment and can be used, I am good. Now with so many products in the market, I have to be more critical and provide more details so that those who read our humble little blog can make informed and smart shopping decisions.

If you have seen my last post, I was talking about Make-Up addiction and how it has now become a heavy burden on me. I have listed a few solutions this is one of them: Use up products that are finishing. And i will realise that i have too much!

Yes, I need to finish up what I have before I buy new shit. This is where project panning comes in. Basically, what project panning means is to keep on using old make up products until it hits pan. The purpose of this is to: 1) Give more love to products you hardly reach for. 2) Make sure that you get your money’s worth by finishing up what you have. 3) For you to realise that you already have a good product on hand and there is no need to buy new ones.

Here are some of the products I plan to hit pan!

  1. Too-faced Chocolate Bar palette

20180811_214055[1]

This is the infamous Chocolate Bar Palette! The packaging looks like an actual chocolate bar! So, so, so cute!

20180811_214131[1]

Here is the interior, nice colors and smell like chocolate bar! Oops, the mirror is dusted with eye-shadow, but hey, I had this for almost 4 years!

Pros:

  • First and foremost, this is a good palette in general. Not the best in the market but it performs well.
  • Most of the colors, blended really seamlessly ( despite it being almost 4 years old!) and is very easy to build up. Especially two base colors, the transition color at the second row, extreme left. As well as the gold and campaign pink color on the second column. I cannot be bothered to find the color lol.
  • There are so many variety of colors and so many looks can be done with this. If I wanna do a full-glam smokey eyes for someone’s wedding, I can. If I happen to wear a fun outfit for girls night out, I can create a look too. If I wanna do a office-friendly look, I can too! There are so many possibilities and options!
  • Smells like chocolate
  • The package is super adorable

Cons:

  • This is expensive as hell, so I better use it up.
  • There are some matte shades which are patchy.
  • I find that all of the the glittery colors to be extremely chunky and have fall-outs. They need more time to blend and build up. Beware of fall-outs!

Status:

I used to use this every day! Until I got newer palettes and grew tired of this one. When I start using it again, I remember why this is such a staple! All the shadows that I have mentioned that were good ( except the 2 large shadows) are very, very near to hitting pan. Even though the colors that I mentioned were not as good, I still use them. I am always at work most of the time so I will get use out of this. I can use this every day actually. Plus, the pans are small, it should be easy to use up.

2) 1028 Macaron Eyeshadow Kit

20180811_214503[1]

1028 Macaron Eyeshadow Kit. The packaging is sooo adorable and cute!

20180811_214533[1]

Very neutral and all glittery shadows. These white dusty specks are the glitters, not mould!

Pros:

  • The colors blend very well and so creamy. Except for that glitter color at the bottom right!
  • The colors compliment very well and it is so easy to pair the shadows. I can quickly think of what looks to do on the spot.
  • The pans are huge, very worth the money.
  • And… it is not expensive. I think I got this at 20 plus dollars at Watsons.
  • The packaging is very sturdy and cute. Great for traveling

Cons:

  •  There are no mattes shades for a more completed look. Unless you are going for the asian style make up which needs no transition shades. Which I don’t really mind. I don’t go full out glam most of the time. For most days, I just put on 2 glittery eyeshadow and mascara for my eye make up.
  • The color at the bottom right is very chunky and glittery. It produces fall out so beware!

If you like, I actually did a review on this!

Status:

The pans are humongous! I used to use this every day too so there is a dent in each shadows. That is amazing feat given how big the pan is. I used this and I remember why I loved this so much! Why do I need 10 more neutral palette when I have good ones that were untouched in my stash?  I could have panned this if I wasn’t distracted by other new buys. This is a great palette ! I must sound really ambitious saying this, but I plan to at least pan this by the end of the year!

3. Tartelette Palette by Tarte

20180811_214629[1]

Here is how the palette looks like! The packaging  design is okay in my opinion , nothing to scream about. But the material is super sturdy and substantial! This is so dusty because I used this to filth!

20180811_214714[1]

This is an all-matte palette.

Pros:

  • It is an all-matte shade. You need at least one matte shade in your stash to pair with single sparkly shadows or all sparkly palette ( like the 1028 one!)
  • Because of the matte texture, it produces very soft look! Really suitable for work and days where you want to look demure, or pretend to be.
  • The colors are very pigmented
  • And this is so user friendly. The 3 columns are placed in a very organised way: in each column you have a base color, a transition shade, one for deepening in the outer corner and the darkest color for accent or eyeliner. The first column is for a warm neutral look, the second column is to create this purplish, cool toned eye look and the last column is used to create a cool tone, neutral eyeshadow look.
  • One look at the palette you know what to do with it.
  • These are very soft shadows and creamy to touch

Cons:

  • The shadows do not blend well and is very patchy. I am surprised though since these are so creamy to the touch.
  • You need a lot of effort and time to get these to blend seamlessly
  • The packaging is a fingerprint magnet.

Status:

I always reach out for this because it is easy to use and easy to pair up with other shadows. BUT, It is tough for me to get these to blend seriously. But I am not that particular, as long as the shadows are reasonably blended, I am happy to leave it as that. Besides, I got my soft eyeshadow look so it is okay and I don’t think that I look that bad. But It will be a problem for people who want that fully-blended and seamless look. I am hitting pan soon on the shade “force of nature”. If I were to use this often, it is easy to hit pan.

That is it! I want to update you by January 2019 and we will see how this goes! I want to finish up old palette before I buy new ones so I need to show some love to my old palettes! Also I have got some product that I want to finish up too! Will do a seperate empties post!

That is it! I hope you enjoy the post and my dusty  palettes! Good night and have a great weekend.

With Love,

Fernelli

Make-Up addiction: Identifying my problem and looking for a solution.

DISCLAIMER: I AM TYPING THIS ON MY PHONE. SO PARDON MY BAD TYPO (TRYING TO MINIMALIZE THAT). OK I SHOULD STOP PULLING A KANYE WEST AND GET TO THE TOPIC!

Hello all,

Fernelli here, hello, hope you are doing well. Rebecca has switched to a new job and is currently trying to settle in. She says hi too! In a blink of eye, we are in the working world and no longer the students that we were three years ago.

Long time no see! It has been three years since i have posted anything substantial. Today, i will be talking about my make up addiction and how i plan to recognise my problem.

Before I talk about addiction, let me gloss you through on what gets me to love make up so much. I discover make up when I was 14 years old. Before that, i mostly use make up for my choir performances. But my interest in make-up sparked when i was 14. Out of no reason, I was super intrigued by this metallic and frosty pink lipstick that my mother used to own. I wore that on my lips and it make me feel beautiful. You may cringe at a frosty lipstick but back in the late 90s and early 2000s, frosty lipstick was the “it” thing.

That interested slowly evolves in lipglosses, blushes and powder foundation. It makes me feel like Ayumi Hamasaki, believe it or not.  Even though i look nothing like her.  She used to have those crazy lashes, pink cheeks, flawless complexion and glossy pink lips, she just looks so stunning! I used to idolise her so much back in the days lol. Back then, i was the fat girl that all these volleyball/netball team bitches love to pick on. The boys were as mean, I am not sexist lol. In school, I always feel like i don’t belong. I always aim to be as pretty as her and this little fantasy helps to cushion my low self esteem back then. All I has was a frosty lipstick, a blush , 3 cheap ass duo shadows, a BB cream, Powder and lip-gloss! Then goes on for until I am in University where I spend my part-time pay for more make-up. That was year 2006-2011

I was a lot slimmer in my university days but still i am quite insecure. But the redeeming point is, i am poor so i still had a healthy stash of make-up. I only have one foundation, a concealer, loose powder, maybe maximum 2 blushes, a brow pencil, one eyeshadow quad, an eyeliner, mascara and a handful of lipstick and that was it. That was year 2011- 2014.

I was introduced to the world of  high end make-up from Youtube, but i can only watch. I have no money to buy all the things that gurus rave crazily about. Until when i start to get my first paycheck. Will touch on this later…

And then it started… during my christmas exchange program in USA, my mum actually gave me some money for a little sephora treat, thanks Mum! Back then, sephora in Singapore does not have as wide of a range as they do have now. So I was in USA and i saw brands like Kat Von D and Becca, I was on cloud nine I tell ya.  But… it ain’t my money so I controlled myself. If you are interested here was what I bought!

Then here comes the addiction story… I came back to Singapore being so fascinated with these products (those were good products) and frequent Sephora for window shopping. And then fast forward to half a year later, i used my first proper paycheck for my first sephora haul.  Yes! I can finally buy that blush that Jaclyn Hill had been going on about! I remembered spending an impressive amount of 300 dollars. Needless to say, i got my black card almost immediately. The feeling of finally buying the product that gurus have introduced was indescribable. The old decade ago feeling of wanting to feel pretty suddenly re-surfaced. I thought more make-up can make me feel more beautiful!~

And it didn’t help that at this point of time in 2014, youtube has soared tremendously and it saw the commercialisation of youtube. Youtubers are constantly pushing products and telling you, “You need this in you life! Run to your nearest Sephora right now!” And to the nearest sephora i go! And that one trip can cost me a few hundred dollars. I went in there wanting to buy a certain product and then i get sucked by some other products and before I know it, BOOM! a few hundred dollars charged to my credit cards.

But as we go along, a lot of audiences realised that these youtuber have been commisioned to push a product. It’s true! You seen that only once in a video and you never see it again. This is what you will have to do if you want to make youtube as a living, people gotta eat too. And i don’t think it is right that i push all the blame to Youtubers. I should have been a more informed consumer. Honestly, i don’t need a make up product in my life. Right?

I have recognised my problem as i always broke and there are times i don’t have any for my saving. That is not right and it should not be happening as my pay is quite decent for people of my age. So in 2017, i decide to go on a strict no buy and manage to have spare cash for saving and learning. The feeling of not worrying too much if i have enough money for the month is liberating. I lessen my sephora trip. I stopped watching Youtubers who are notoriously known for pushing products.

Fast forward to today, I had a good make up no buy plan until May of this year. I had a rough patch at work, things are not going as smooth as i thought. During the 20% sale end may, I bought all the stuff that i am running out of. But then i made a rash decision to buy that Kat Von D contour palette which is way too dark for a fair bitch like me. But somehow, that makes me happy and forget about my career trouble . So why is the palette such a bad idea? Over the years i have turn even paler ( I guess it’s because I am less exposed to the sun?) , i am a NC15 by the way. That palette make me look dirty and muddy. And for something that makes me look muddy, it costs a whooping 70 plus dollar after discount. Shitttt…

And one bad buying choice leads to another. So i saw this limited edition Kat Von D palette and i immediately grabbed it. Then i saw Kat Von D doing all these amazingly creative marketing for her products and i am back in love with colours!

From there ( May) , I bought a kkw beauty palette, a canmake palette, mac blush, Kat Von D pastel goth palette, Sugar pill palette, cathay doll lipstick, cathay doll palette, a blush, fenty foundation and primer, fenty lipstick, kora trial set, fresh mini mask, mini caudalie spray, lipwhip by beauty bakarie (which is dry btw, i dont have much luck with liquid lipsticks and yet i still buy) and some Jeffree Star lipstick. And 100 dollars worth of make- up from Watsons.Yeah all in 2 months.

So i need to really stop. I am struggling with crazy credit card bills. I can pay off for now but if it spirals further, i won’t have anymore to put in my savings account. I even flinch at the thought of buying simple necessity such as shampoo and cable. Which those are the things i really should be spending on. That is my financial status now. It is good that i realised that i relapsed. Now i need a plan.

1) Stop watching youtube

2) stop popping by sephora

3) Reorganise my make up stash. Throw all those that i don’t need. This is to keep track of what i have and keeps me from buying.

4) Use up products that are finishing. And i will realise that i have too much.

5) No more credit card spending.

This is all i can think off. I know many people face this problem and I kinda wanna step out of my insecurity and be kind to my wallet man. I feel that retail therapy is only temporary happiness. What I didn’t realise was, my family and friend ( including Rebecca) are the ones who are truly making me happy and grounded, not some dumb ass palette from KKW. I have extremely supportive colleagues who supported me when disgusting people try to sabotage me at work.  I need to recognise that they are the ones who I need to be spending time with and yes, the money should be used for lunch sessions with them. A stupid expensive ass palette won’t listen to me bitch about my disgusting co-workers and give me a proper solution! Only friends and family will!

It is now towards August and i will check back with you guys on my status on 1 Jan 2019. Hope it is all good. See you soon😆 Meanwhile, i can make good use outta my buys and do some informative review.  I find blogging a chore as i have to take photos, upload it, type and all that stuff.

I thought of making a simple video. I just describe the product and show you how it looks like better. Just do simple editing and thats it. Will be up by early August!

Shall i do the limited edition palettes first?

What is up, you guys?

This is Fernelli here! We haven’t been updating and man it has been a looong time! I was just reading through my amateurish posts and bad English a while ago and it sure feels nostalgic! However, i want to keep all the posts, and update with newer and better ones! Do stay tuned☺

Facial masks

Today I’m going to give a review on the masks that I have been using recently. I’m not much of a mask person as it requires time. While the mask stays on your face, you have to wait and there is nothing much you can do.

But lets be honest, its worth it right? Imagine waking up to a hydrated, fresh and silky smooth skin everyday. Isn’t that every girls’ dream? To have that, it definitely requires commitment thus I usually prefer to use a moisturizer or night cream.

However, we still enjoy using masks once in a while because I personally feel that some works better than a cream/ moisturizer.

Without further talking, here are some masks that I have been using lately:

1. My Beauty Diary Apple Polyphenal Mask

apple mask

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Smells really good
  • Makes my skin feel hydrated
  • Can be found at all drugstores

Cons

  • The ‘hydrated’ feeling does not last very long
  1. Faith in Face After Shower Look

after shower mask.jpg

Pros:

  • Love, love, love this mask
  • My skin never fails to feel smooth and moisturized after using it
  • It lives up to its words – out of shower look
  • The packaging spells CUTE
  • It fits firmly onto your face as it comes with two parts – the top and bottom
  • Doesn’t fall off thus you can do anything while waiting

Cons:

  • Very expensive

    3.    Piggy Mom Soak Soak Nose Pack

piggy mom nose pack

My friend who returned from Korea a month ago bought this for me. Upon receiving it, I was surprised that a nose pack can have such a cute packaging and I was excited to try it on. I finally had time to try it on and here are my thoughts about it.

There are three steps to it. The first step stings a little initially but it feels better after a while. During this stage, your pores are being opened up. The second step is a bitch. This is where the blackheads are being removed. You apply a sticky patch onto your nose for 10 mins and it gets stickier and stickier. Imagine removing a scotch tape from your nose but this is worse. For the third and final step, which is my favourite step, you close up your pores. Your nose will thank you for that.

  1. Lets start with my dislikes:

Pros:

  • Some of my blackheads are being removed.
  • It did a fairly good job in removing my blackheads, but some still remains.
  • Nice packaging
  • Smells good

Cons:

  • It stings a little initially.
  • Time consuming (Takes up to 40 mins)
  • Cannot be found in Singapore
  • Not all of my blackheads are being removed

  • It was a little disappointment as I had high hopes for it, but nevertheless, if you’re looking for something to awaken the eye area, it is worth the try.

Alright, that’s all for now. There are still a few more products but I’ll leave it to the next post.

Till then, take care everyone!

Current favorites

Sorry I haven’t been posting man! Let’s talk about things I love in the month from July- September! I haven’t been buying a lot of stuff, just some re-stocking of items because I use make up very quickly. But still, I managed to find some really good and cheap products!

OKAY!  let’s cut the bulls short, I have pretty good luck with eyeliner because I have replaced my current HG which is the K-palette one. The K-palette one is really black, lasts long and doesn’t smudge. However, it is a pain to wash off. However, I have found liners which last, is BLACKER and smudge free. AND it is much easier to clean off than the K-palette one.

  1. TheBalm Schwing liquid black Liner

Pros

  • This stuff is Jet Black
  • Lasts for a really long time
  • Smudge proof  water proof and sweat proof.
  • Interesting packaging

Cons

  • Stiff, hard felt tip applicator which is not begginers friendly.
  • Quite expensive. I got this for 30% off.

2) Maybelline lasting drama eyeliner

Pros

  • I used to have very oily skin as a adolescent and this eyeliner smudges. I gave it another chance after like 2 years after I turned into combination skin. And I fell in love with it!
  • It is very smooth and creamy to apply
  • Beginners friendly
  • It is Jet black
  • Smudge proof and sweat proof.

Cons

  • Crazy expensive for a drugstore brand. In Singapore, you rather spend a little more on high end than on drugstore which is not much cheaper. Anything that is 20 plus is expensive because I could have buy a high end liner by topping up a few dollars, it is that crazy.
  • It is starting to dry and I got this for barely 2 months.

3) 1028 Brownie Eyeshadow

20151003_222848

This is how it looks inside – All cool colors

20151003_223137

Pros

  • Look at the swatch above? That is just one swipe. The pigmentation is just wonderful and is definitely on par or even better than my Too-Faced chocolate palette. That says a lot.
  • It is relatively cheap, at 28 SGD I get such a great quality of Shadows. It is not a just deal, it is a STEAL.
  • Shadows are smooth and buttery.
  • No fall outs
  • The color selection is very versatile. You can create a pretty day time look or a smoky look for ladies’ night out , clubbing or wedding dinners.

Cons

  • I just wish it has a matte orangey-brown transitional shade and this will be perfect

4) Faceshop Radiance Powder Pact

Pros:

  • Very finely milled powder
  • Smells great
  • Keeps my face matte and flawless for hours
  • I got this for 13 SGD, very inexpensive.
  • Makes my make up last.
  • Good coverage.

Cons:

  • Can be really cakey if not applied carefully. My suggestion is to use beauty blender for the flawless look and big fluffy brush just to lightly set your foundation.
  • Very, very limited color selection. I just happen to have good luck with Korean products, a lot of people seems to have problem finding the right shade.

5) Beauty Blender

Pros:

  • Gives the most beautiful airbrushed finish
  • Applies foundation evenly
  • I look flawless when I apply any kind of foundation on my face.
  • The narrow tip allows me to apply foundation on tricky areas such as the sides of the nose and my under-eyes.
  • Foundation application is faster with the beauty blender.
  • Very nice squishy texture.
  • It is a  multi purpose tool: You can use it for liquid/cream foundation application, loose powder/power foundation, contour, blush and concealer. You don’t need concealer brush and powder brush for anyone who is looking for the one tool which can settle everything.

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • grows moldy easily if not cleaned properly.

6.) Marc Jacobs sheer Lipgel – Understudy

Pros:

  • Very pretty, slick and sophisticated packaging
  • I sure feel really pampered and luxurious with this lipstick!
  • Very comfortable to wear
  • Lasts relatively well for a gel consistency lipstick
  • Pretty pinky-brown nude shade

Cons:

  • Hella expensive!! I got this for 20% off.

7.) Tony Moly Red Appletox Honey Cream

Pros:

  • Beautiful and delicious looking packaging.
  • Smells like apple and honey
  • Lightweight Gel texture
  • Absorbs really quickly
  • Very moisturizing
  • Reduce redness of blemishes
  • Affordable, great for teen girls who don’t have a lot of money.

Cons:

  • The annoying jar packaging makes it such a mess to apply!

8.) Skinfood Parsley and Mandarin Orange essence

Pros:

  • Very lightweight Gel texture
  • Absorbs fast
  • Smells good
  • Diminish my blemishes instantly. You can see result the next day.

Cons:

  • The prices for skinfood in Singapore is wayyy jacked up compared to prices in Korea

9) Tomato Whitening Essence

Pros:

  • Very liquidy and lightweight
  • Absorbs fast
  • Smells great
  • Instant whitening effects

Cons:

  • The prices for skinfood in Singapore is wayyy jacked up compared to prices in Korea.

10) My Beauty Diary Rose masks

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Very moisturizing as the mask contain a lot of serums.
  • Makes my face look brighter,
  • Good quality cotton fibre mask which is thick and can absorb serum very well. It is very sturdy and won’t break easily.
  • Smells like rose.

Cons:

  • Can feel heavy if left on the face for too long.

11) Essence gel nail polishes ( I got the yellow, rose pink and red)

Pros:

  • Lasts for a good week, not bad for a 3SGD polish.
  • Very pigmented, I can achieve full opacity by just 2 light coat.
  • Not streaky
  • Many choices of colors.
  • Incredible value for money. I can easily buy 10 of these instead of one High end one, to me this one works just as well.

Cons:

  • Takes ages to dry
  • Kiddy looking packaging

12) Chloe rose EDT

Pros:

  • Long lasting with scentless lotion.
  • Smells very crisps, sweet and Floral ( rose).
  • Pleasant smell.
  • Great perfume for a lift of mood.
  • Classy packaging

Cons:

  • Mad expensive ( retail price) . I got this for more than 50% off.

13) Lanvin eclat d’arpege

Pros:

  • Smell very floral and sophisticated
  • Very pleasant and comfortable smelling
  • Last for very long.
  • Very suitable for work
  • For some reason, it makes me feel like a gently and kindly lady. I am not gentle, I behave like a man sometimes ):

Cons:

  • Expensive. It retails at 170 plus dollars for 100ml bottle. Guess what? I got it at 38 dollars. Go to wholesale store! Ask for tester pack! Not like the box is important since you are going to throw it away!

Okay, That is all for now. What are your favourites? Do let me know! Till then goodbye and stay fabulous and healthy!

Love,

Fernelli

WHY DISCONTINUE IT!!??? : Kat Von D Ladybird palette

Fernelli here!

Two years ago, I went to USA with my lovely friends for an exchange trip. We had a BLAST and most importantly I bought stuff from USA. I did a quick rundown of my haul and here is it 🙂 I love the Kat Von D palette out of all the stuff that I bought. The shadows are so creamy, so pigmented and so versatile.

But now, they have discontinued it! Why?? This is the perfect matte palette and I cannot express how much I love this! I am not trying to show off or make anyone feel bad that they don’t have the shadows, but just to share my kind of perfect matte palette. Also, I am curious to know, since this is discontinued, why can I find another one like this? I am hitting pan now and soon it may run out. I used the shit out of this palette really.

Without further ado, let me just show you how great this palette is 🙂 And also I am on the mission to hunt for more matte shadows. Now that I am older and working, I think matte shadows are more for me. And it always look so natural.

I always love Kat Von D packaging. What can I say? so gothic, so artistic and so unique.

The swatch ( from left): Fur Elise, Vespertine, Renholder, Siouxsie-Sioux , Unrequited, Harlow, Wolf, Cleopatra.

As you can see, they swatch beautifully. The texture is very creamy and smooth. They can be a wee bit chalky when you swatch it but I don’t mind cos they blend out beautifully in the end anyways. I love Vespertine, Unrequited, Harlow and Cleopatra the most. I used all the colors very frequent but these 4 are my absolute favorite.  They are so pigmented that you only need to dip you brush into the pan once and you get amazing pay off. Dip it twice and you will look like a train-wreck.

I love, love this palette. I cannot go wrong with this, I always get compliment using this palette, ALWAYS. People think that I am really good with my eyeshadows when the fact is, I used a super blendable shadow which is so easy to work with. Not only that, it has a good amount of cool and warm tone, which makes it so versatile. Cleopatra is the PERFECT warm-orangey transition shade for me. Any eyeshadow will look good with cleopatra. I cannot finf any other palette with that perfect orangey shade. It sucks that they discontinue it!

About the eye liner that comes with it, it is ok I guess. Can do without it, plus I never like pencil liners, such a pain in the ass.

I have thought of a few options:

  1. The Tartelette by Tarte

This one looks great. But not warm enough for me. But I swatched it at sephora, it is so damn creamy, buttery smooth and awesome to work with! And really work friendly too!

2) Stila eyes are the windows palette – mind

This is very similar to the Kat Von D palette. However, I swatched it a pretty long time ago and my impression is that it swatches pretty nicely too. I love the packaging and there is the orangey-transitional shade. Is it the one I am looking for? I need to swatch it again.

3) Meet Matt(e) Nude

I find the concept for the palette so freaking naughty but so adorable. This is beautiful as well! But It is not warm enough for me. However, out of the 3, this one is the cheapest. NOOOOO!

I am waiting for the october sales, the 20 percent discount. The second big haul of the year. I am going to get the too faced holiday set, it is too beautiful to be true and it includes 2 blushes, highlight, bronzer, 18 shadows, a mascara, a liquid lipstick and eye primer for USD 59. SIAOOOOOOO!!! And one more matte eyeshadow palette to go in this season.

* I know people will be like, ” do you need that much palette?” At first I am super controlled when it comes to palette because I thought I don’t need that much. But on the second thought why not when it makes me happy? I am not overspending within my needs and I rarely use credit card. Eyeshadow can last very long for me because I keep them properly. Just a while ago, i need eyeshadows to do red eyeshadow look because of our national day, a tadah! I got what I need. You know, crap out something to justify my purchases HAHAHAHHAH!

Anyway, today is national day and I hope every enjoy their longggg holiday! Stay fabulous and I will update soon 😀

With love,

Fernelli

Colourpop- Is it worth the hype?

So I bought Colourpop’s ” Where the light is” palette which is a collaboration with Kathleen Lights. She is a youtuber and I really like her. Also, I also love all her recommendations. I want to support her and bought the palette. It is very hard to get it from Singapore but I refuse to give up. I heard so many good thing about their products.

In the end, I got it from http://www.shopping-district.net/. The delivery is swift and the stuff are in good condition. Also, I got the lippie stix in “Brink”, it is suppose to be the “Kylie Jenner” color, AKA the 90s colour. The 90s trend is back now ya know. I don’t care about Kylie but I love everything about the 90s 😀

SO PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The colours: Kathleenlights (Top left) , , Cornelious ( Top Right) , Glow ( Bottom left) , Blaze ( Bottom Right)

20150626_101602[1]

Sorry the lighting is terrible, it is a brownish red colour 🙂

Yup I am almost done with the colours. Kathleen lights has done a super good job on the color cos it is so beautiful and so me!

But I am not really a fan of the formula of the matte colors. I have no idea how to work with them and the pigmentation is meh. I used synthetic brush and it works slightly better. The shimmering colors are very buttery and smooth ( Blaze and Kathleenlights) while the matte colours ( Glow and Cornelious) are a bit hard to work with.

For the matte colors, the consistency is like playdough and it can be hard to try to get the colors out. I have to dig and dig and dig and dig to get decent color payoff , hence the dent. The shimmery color however, is very smooth and very pigmented. They swatch beautifully too! I LOVE the little shimmery specks on the shadows as well, they are really fine and not super chunky.

The Lippie stix swatches beautiful, glides smoothly and really is the 90s colour! However, I find it extremely dry and can get uncomfortable after a while.

If you want, here are the swatches!

From top: Cornelious, Glow, Kathleen lights, blaze, brink lippie stix,

I did a look using the eyeshadows and lippie stix. Here you go!

Conclusion- worth the hype? : My answer is not really, not a bad product but not like WOW! too . The matte colors to me are underwhelming and the lippie stix is too drying. The Shimmery however is super pigmented and has great color payoff. I am half-half about this one. But I love the colours though!!!

Perfumes that I own ( Or used to own)

Hi everybody!

Fernelli here!! lets get on to the content! I will state if the product is Eau De Toilette (EDT) or Eau De Parfum (EDP) . EDP is more concentrated in perfume oil than EDT, so usually EDP lasts longer. However, you have to look at the brand you are using. Some brand has more long lasting EDT than another brand’s EDP. And what smells good on you, might not smell good on others.

I started exploring fragrances when dad bought me my first fragrance when I was 18. And my first fragrance is…

1) Sheer Bebe (EDT)

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Bebe/Sheer-9898.html

Pros:

– Super refreshing and clean smell

– Suits teenager, which is what I am at that time when I got it.

Cons:

– Doesn’t last ):

2) Eclat d’ Arpege Lanvin (EDP)

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Lanvin/Eclat-d-Arp-ge-988.html

Another gift from my dad for my 19th birthday. At first I was secretly disappointed with the scent ( because it is a gift after all! Have to be appreciative). It smells like lavender and I hate lavender scent, really I do. However it settles very quickly and I am super amazed by the pleasant, mellow floral scent. I test sprayed this before bed by the way and I can sleep very peacefully as I smell this. And the next day, it is still there!

What I like about it:

– It has a very mild, mellow  floral scent.

– It smells very womanly and gentle

– Super long lasting

– Smells very pleasant and soothing

– Smell fresh

Cons:

– I was bored of it and didn’t repurchase it, then I miss it after a few months. My ass was broke for a few years and didn’t buy it. Now that I am making money, I am going to repurchase this.

3) Chloe By Chloe ( EDT)

This was a gift for my dad during my 20th birthday. Hahaha! In case you don’t know, my dad is a perfumista and he knows everything in the book about perfumes. And he loves me :DDD I was given a sample and I mentioned that I love this small at the dining table, didn’t expect him to get it because it is mad expensive. Soon after, he got it for me 😀This has been my signature scent.

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Chloe/Chloe-Eau-de-Parfum-1733.html

What I like about it:

– It has a very beautiful, distinctive rose smell

– The most long lasting perfume that I owned, it can stay until the next day, even after two showers.

– It is a very floral, spring time scent.

– It smells very fresh

– It smell very sophisticated and womanly.

Cons:

– If applied too much, it can send a giddy spell for anyone. Once I am over-zealous with the scent. My classmates keep covering their nose.

4. Dream Angels Heavenly by Victoria’s Secret ( EDP)

This one is a gift from my cousin. At first I hated it because it smell so musky. I am very used to floral scent and this is definitely something different.  I super love it after I turn 22 because its time I have a more mature scent.

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Victoria-s-Secret/Dream-Angels-Heavenly-1732.html

What I like about it:

–  It is very different from what I own

– Smell sexy and womanly.

– Lasts long

– It has a nice mandarin orange note, gives this musky perfume a refreshing twist.

Cons:

– This perfume is out of my character, but still good for a change.

5. Flora By Gucci (EDP)

This one is a gift from my cousin for my 21st birthday, I love this scent a lot , a lot. I wear this scent a lot in USA and it remains me of all the good, carefree times during my overseas study trip. All I did was shop, sleep plenty and eat fat foods.

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Gucci/Flora-by-Gucci-Eau-de-Parfum-7610.html

What I like about it:

–  Lasts very long.

– It has a very beautiful floral scent.

– It smells really elegant and classy

– My go-to event perfume

– It has a nice citrus note.

Cons:

– It can be quite a heavy perfume. I sometimes get a bad sneeze if I sniff this too much when spraying it.

6. Selena Gomez by Selene Gomez ( EDP)

I got this when I was USA. Me and Shabnam love it but Estee cannot stand the smell of it HAHAHAHAH! It is super sweet and not everyone can stand the smell. It is like candy sweet. I got bored of this after a while. I wear this a lot when I was in publicist pr and it reminds of the horrid days. But that doesn’t affects the fact that I like the smell. I like it but not that, that much. I can do without it.

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Selena-Gomez/Selena-Gomez-Eau-de-Parfum-14879.html

What I like about it:

– The bottle looks BEAUTIFUL

– It smell very fruity and fresh.

– It smells very girly and cheerful

– My first celebrity perfume

Cons:

– It can get sickeningly sweet if applied too much

– It doesn’t last

– I bought this 2 years ago, so I grew out of the fruity sweet smell.

7. Miss Dior New ( EDP)

I got this for myself for my 23rd birthday. I sniff this and fall in love very instantly.

Notes: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Christian-Dior/Miss-Dior-new–17796.html

What I like about it:

– It has a beautiful and deep mandarin orange smell.

– It smell very elegant, grown-up and sophisticated

– It has beautiful floral note in it as well.

– Very pleasant and comfortable smell.

Cons:

– Doesn’t seems to last on me.

8. Chloe Roses De Chloe (EDT)

I got this at a insanely cheap price 2 days ago. O.M.G this is got to be one of my Favorite scent of all. Even though this is a EDT but it lasts longer than Miss Dior on me. I smell like a rose fairy okayyyyyy.

What I like about it:

– It smells very fresh

– It has a distinctive but light rose scent.

– It lasts

– Smells very comfortable.

– very gentle and mild scent

– It smell very girly and feminine

Cons:

– Can’t find any for the moment.
